Great hair gives us confidence, complements our features, may indicate how we take care of ourselves, and can even reveal some of our personality. Overall, it enhances our beauty that emanates from within. Not to mention, it can certainly contribute to the perfect selfie (which yes, many of us strive to achieve 😉). But what is “great” hair if not the healthiest hair you can possibly have?!
For those of you wondering how healthy your hair is currently, try this test: wet a strand and stretch it out…if it bounces back, you have properly balanced moisture and protein levels, if it stretches more than it should or breaks, you need some hair help. Most are in the latter category, so don’t worry if you are too.
In our quest for great hair and flexibility in styling and looks, we often use chemical services like color, bleaching, perms, or relaxers, and lots of heat styling - given all of these stressors, there is a solution that just about every person needs in their hair care routine: the reconstructor. Simply put, reconstructors contain protein (hair is 90% protein by the way), and work to restore structural integrity to the hair. Don’t confuse them with deep conditioners which add moisture, but do not actually repair. A high-performance reconstructor will multi-task by not only repairing damage from all of the rigors of chemical services and heat styling, but will also impart additional moisture, rebuild areas of your hair where protein is lacking, prevent future breakage, and restore elasticity. They’re literally a miracle worker for your hair!
Our UltraRepair Reconstructing Masque is our clean ingredient high-performance answer to a reconstructor with the unique quality of being able to be left in your hair overnight for maximum results, whereas most reconstructors cannot be left in overnight (please be careful and read product instructions thoroughly).
This intensive treatment is reparative for hair that has been compromised by color or bleach processing, heat styling, or environmental factors - especially wind and winter weather or sun and salt/pool water. It’s highly effective for smoothing coarse, curly, or frizz-prone hair and protecting it from breakage, dehydration, tangles, and split ends. It also happens to be the perfect weekly self-care ritual for a mindful “me-time" moment. We call it a time-traveler because this clean beauty favorite results in bouncy, shiny, silky, and strong hair, no matter its previous condition!
How To Use It: Shampoo, rinse and towel dry hair lightly, then apply UltraRepair until hair is modestly saturated (thin layer of saturation) and comb through with wide tooth comb for even distribution. Bag hair (shower cap style baggie) and wait 15 minutes (or as long as overnight) before rinsing. After rinsing, towel dry hair (wrap hair in either a t-shirt or hair towel for gentle drying) and apply either StartSmart or SmartVolume Leave-in Conditioner spray for heat protection and other benefits, then style as desired.
Note For Our Curly Girls: once or twice a week, skip your conditioner and instead comb in UltraRepair and don’t rinse it out - curls need additional moisture and repair so your locks will love you for it!
