I always envied those that seemed to be so at ease with their hair. I struggled well into my 40s. Born with kinky curls among my sisters with straight hair meant that I was on my own to try to make a beautiful head of hair from frizz, tangles, dryness, and OOC Curls. My solutions back then, as the education and product solutions available for my hair type were few, was to take the chemical route by using straightening treatments resulting in weirdly flat hair, and then when totally at a loss - my mom would cut my hair so short it did not have the opportunity to even curl. I remember a few summers (groan) that it was so short, I hid it underneath a hat at all times. I was pretty embarrassed about my hair at the time. As bad as this sounds for a teenager, my hair issues only compounded later on.

As I moved out of my twenties - I noticed the intense thinning in my crown area - inherited from my mom with the see-through hair (love you, Mom). I was missing hair in the most noticeable areas around my part and in the front of my head. Dear me - it was pure hair torture. I would try to hide it with curls or to just use a topical spray and call it a day. I wish I had the answers back then, but I was only at the beginning of my hair journey, and the solutions were unexpected to say the least!

My EVOLVh hair journey started about 11 years ago, which took me on the path to hydrated, soft, and smooth curls, and gave me an easy maintenance routine, and flexibility in style (for the first time!). Healthy hair equated to being able to experiment with different stylers to achieve a new look on command. Among my faves are the SmartCurl Hydrating Wash & Conditioner and regular use of the UltraRepair Masque to keep my very porous locks hydrated and shiny. WonderBalm is my can’t-live-without desert island product.

About a year and a half ago I decided to go all in on natural - aka I’m now among the silvers, and fully grown out I’m proud to say. Miraculously, eliminating the coloring process from my routine resulted in a head full of hair - yes, it's two to three times as thick as it was without the thinning or bare spots - they are gone forever! I'm not saying that this will work for everyone, but it has changed my hair life. #moreinlovewithmyhairthanever

Right now I am really enjoying my hair! I’ve recently cut-off the length and tapered it. The style is very similar to when I was in junior high (in the 80’s!) - which cracks me up every time I look at it, so that alone makes it fun. I have also changed my EVOLVh routine a bit. I have switched shampoos, and am in love with the InstaVolume Cleansing Treatment! It adds volume, bounce, and shine! I still use UltraShine Conditioner in the shower, followed by SmartStart Leave-In Conditioner and SuperFinish Polishing Balm while my hair is damp. In between wash days, I spray a bit of UltraFlex Hairspray on my bangs and roots. Those areas get oily, and UltraFlex Hairspray soaks up the oil, extending days between washes for me.

I was a huge tomboy growing up and would only wear my hair in a ponytail - wearing it down maybe only once a year. In middle school, I volunteered for a hair show, and came out with the most beautiful red hair, a new cut, and a whole new line of products to use - EVOLVh. For the past 10 years, I've loved my hair and feel like I grew into myself more. I've learned how to style it, take care of it, and how to make it look voluminous. It hasn't always been easy, and I still have bad hair days, but I've learned to appreciate my hair, and definitely don't mind the compliments about how shiny it looks.

I've always struggled to figure out what to do with my hair. Ponytails were my best friend because my hair became so greasy the day after I washed it that it made it impossible to wear it down. After feeling uninspired by my hair for so long, I finally spent time learning what it needed and started a proper hair care routine. My new routine includes a weekly scalp treatment, using a microfiber towel, waiting until my hair is dry to brush through it, and using my favorite EVOLVh products: the UltraShine Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner, SmartStart Leave-In Conditioner, and UltraRepair Reconstructing Masque are my go-to's. I can now go days without my hair feeling greasy and feel more confident wearing it down!

My hair has always felt like an extension of my fashion sense to me. A way I can express who I am and how I feel. In college I was feeling the need for change and tried going blonde on a whim which I quickly found out doesn't happen overnight when you're naturally a dark brunette. But I loved every bit of being blonde and eventually chose to go platinum as quickly as possible even despite my hairstylist's warnings for my hair health. This of course meant bleach damage which included extremely dry, thin looking strands that I wasn't happy with. Though I should have listened to the professionals in the first place, experiencing the damage helped me realize that nothing looks or feels better than healthy hair. EVOLVh has helped me grow my hair back out and restore its health as I discovered a healthier version of my bright blonde look. I now invest in invisible bead extensions and professional, toxin-free products that help my hair to be stronger every day. I've never loved my hair more or been more confident in its health!

My favorite EVOLVh products are the SmartVolume Leave-In Conditioner (after washes and every day as I brush out my extensions in between), the UltraRepair Masque every other week, and the SuperFinish Polishing Balm to tame and smooth flyaways (I almost always wear my hair half-up so this is a life-saver!).
